NHS Induction 2021
On Sunday, November 14, 2021, National Honors Society held their induction ceremony in the Riverdale High School gym. National Honors Society requires the core principles, character, leadership, scholarship, and service. 28 new members were inducted into NHS based on these principles. The five seniors that were inducted were Jordan Bull-Welch, Carson Page, Jessee Pinson, Reece Richmond, and Sam Willems. There were eight juniors, Campbell Brock, Crystal Craigmiles, Makenna Dittman, Grace Lonergan, Haylie McKoon, Landis Musser, Alexis Polenske, and Veronica Urek, who were inducted. Lastly, 15 sophomores were inducted. Sophomores were Makenna Bode, Claire Decap, RyaLynn Grant, Alaina Heim, Peyton Hemm, Cael Hinde, Keagan Hohenadel, Maggie Kelley, Tyler Lockaby, Leyton Nelson, Ava Phelps, Aubrie Polenske, Emily Saddoris, Addison Secker, and Mattea Wuest. NHS members need to maintain a GPA of 3.5 or higher in order to stay a part of the club. Each member is also required to get 30 service hours each semester. NHS members meet every other week to discuss upcoming service opportunities and to talk about their latest projects. The upcoming project is cash for kids. Cash for kids is a fundraiser where NHS members raise money to buy christmas presents for less fortunate children. The money raised is shared between the Port Byron community and Rock Island County communities.
