On Saturday, September 10th, the Riverdale Cross Country team ran at the Decorah All-American Invitational meet. The meet was at Luther College in Decorah Iowa. The team had runners in all four high school races, the JV Girls and Boys and the Varsity Girls and Boys. The Boys JV team placed 20th with the runners- Andy Murray(SO), Adam Benoit(SO), Isaiah Winters(SR), Sam Butterfield(SO), and Brendan Zimmerer(SR). The Boys Varsity team out of 31 teams placed 4th with the runners- Tommy Murray(SR), Peyton Sand(SR), Landis Musser(SR), Braden Bode(FR), Cael Hinde(JR), Mitch Hasenour(SR), and Gage Gulrapp(JR). The Girls JV and Varsity teams didn’t have enough people to have a full team of runners but running for the JV team was- Avery Mays(SR), and Tegan Migenty(JR). Mattea Wuest(JR) and Ava Phelps(JR) ran for the Varsity team. The weather for this race was far from ideal, with rain and mud creating hard course conditions. Even with the harsh conditions the team was overall very happy with their performance. Senior Peyton Sand says, “Overall everyone did super well considering racing with hills and mud. Personally I thought I did really good, I definitely could have ran faster if it had been 60 degrees and not muddy. I am excited for Conference and hope to see lots of people at the meet on September 27th at Erie Golf Course.” The team looks forward to their upcoming meets and continuing the season strong.
