Interact Coin Drive
By: Alaina Heim
On the weeks of April 3rd through 7th and April 11th through 14th, the Riverdale High School Interact Club participated in a coin drive for Kids Against Hunger. Interact collected quarters at the start of school and also sold suckers for a quarter during the 8th period of the school day. One quarter paid for one meal for a child overseas. Riverdale Interact Club offered to match donation amounts up to $500. On April 15th, from 9:30 to 12:00, Riverdale’s Interact Club, joined by the Moline Interact Club and the Port Byron Rotary, packaged meals for Kids Against Hunger using the money they collected over the week.
Riverdale High School through the quarter drive and 8th hour sucker sales, donated $327 to help fight hunger! Donations from Riverdale High School Interact, River Cities Rotary, and Moline High School Interact was a total of $1,327 donated to Kids Against Hunger. That equates to 5,308 meals sponsored and 7,500 packaged on Saturday!
