Breast Cancer Awareness Volleyball Game

On October 4th, 2022, the Riverdale High School Volleyball team hosted a pink out night to support breast cancer awareness. They played at home against Sherrard High School. The freshmen played at 5:00 and after 3 tough fought games they came out with the win. The sophomores played at 6:00 and played very close games, but unfortunately Sherrard took the win in 2. The varsity began at 7:00 p.m. Varsity’s first game was very close, however Sherrard took the win. In the second game the Rams had a rough start but battled back and never gave up. Unfortunately the Sherrard took the win. Both teams also raised money to help breast cancer awareness. They raised money by having a silent auction and raffle baskets. At the end of the night they raised almost two thousand dollars to go to the breast cancer awareness research center! The fans and teams both showed support by wearing pink. Teachers also wore pink during the school day to show their support. Before the varsity game the Riverdale Varsity girls handed out pink flowers to anyone in the gym who had survived or is currently fighting breast cancer. Overall, it was an amazing, fun, and exciting night. All the teams played well and in the end it was a great night to support breast cancer awareness month!
