by: Claire DeCap
On Sunday, October 16th, 2022, the National Honors Society held its annual induction ceremony. This year, NHS inducted thirty-one new members. Nine of the inductees were seniors, ten were juniors, and twelve were sophomores. High school principal, Mr. Stewart, opened the induction with a speech. Then, each member of the NHS executive board gave a short speech representing the four qualities that the organization looks for in its members. These qualities include scholarship, leadership, service, and character. NHS president, Grace Lonergan, said “I was a bit nervous to speak, but I think all the speakers did very well.” Following these speeches, the inductees participated in the traditional induction process; they recited the NHS pledge, given their membership stolls, and signed the NHS membership book. Grace Lonergan commented, “ I am very excited for the new inductees to join the NHS initiative.” Following the ceremony, current and new members and their families gathered to celebrate with refreshments.
