Volleyball Regional Champions

Tuesday, October 26, 2021 the Riverdale Rams Varsity Volleyball team travelled to Prophetstown, Illinois, to play their first game of the postseason. They played Orion at 6:30 p.m. This is was their third time playing Orion, and they tied during the regular season. Orion is an aggressive and well organized team, so it was expected to be a good game. Riverdale took the lead and won the first match 25 - 20. However, the second match wasn’t the same outcome; the girls were short two points to Orion. The third game, the Riverdale Rams led by 18 - 9 at one point, and eventually beat the Orion Chargers 25 - 17. On the following Thursday, October 28, 2021 they played in the regional championship against Kewanee. Kewanee was quick and ready to play a competitive match against the Rams. Kewanee took the lead, and Riverdale fell in the first game 20-25. The next match was a different story. The girls came back and won 25 - 15. The Rams adjusted well to Kewanee’s offense, and had a successful third game as well, winning 25 - 23. The student section went crazy as they won the last point of the third game. The girls received a Regional Champion plaque, held it up, and cheered. It was a triumphant night for the Riverdale Rams. Their next game is Monday, November 1, 2021 at 5:30 p.m., in Knoxville, Illinois. They will be playing in the first round of sectionals! Go Rams!
