Scholastic Bowl Success Continues

The Varsity Rams Scholastic Bowl team, coached by Coach Jim Campbell won the Geneseo Masonic Tournament last Saturday, February 19th. The tournament consisted of teams from Bureau Valley, Rockridge, Rock Falls, Mercer County, Geneseo, and Princeton. The Rams won all games. The scores were Bureau Valley 380 to 70, Rockridge score 320 to 50, Mercer County 260 to 110, Geneseo 250 to 120, and Princeton 220 to 180. The leading scorer was Tommy Murry with 18 toss ups, Emmett Mueller with 17 toss ups, Gavin Jenkins with 11 toss ups, Kyan Stewart with 9 toss ups, James Ramos with 1 toss up, and Veronica Urek with 1 toss up. The Riverdale Scholastic Bowl team will have made a total of 13 state appearances along with 5 IHSA appearances along with the eight Masonic appearances. On February 24th, both the JV and Varsity Scholastic Bowl teams won against St. Bede and took the conference title. Both the JV and Varsity teams were undefeated in the conference. The score was 320 (Riverdale) and 170 (St. Bede). Scoring toss ups were Tommy Murry with seven, Gavin Jenkins with two, Emmett Mueller with one, and Brendan Zimmerer with one. Senior Kyan Stuart said, “Masonic Sectionals was so much fun, but we did not win without a fight. We pulled together in the last round and came out victorious. We all came out better competitors and smarter than before.” The team is going to be advancing to the Masonic State tournament on Saturday, March 5th.
