Riverdale Wrestlers Qualify for State

On Saturday, March 7th four Riverdale wrestlers competed at state qualifiers. In the boys’ fresh-soph state qualifier, freshmen Eli Hinde and Alex Watson competed. Unfortunately, Alex Watson didn’t qualify, but Eli Hinde placed first and is moving on to the state meet. The girls’ wrestling qualifier was held at Sterling High School. Both freshman Khylie Wainwright and junior Jaden Searl qualified, Wainwright taking second and Searl taking third. “It was great to qualify for state in my first year of wrestling, and I hope I’m able to make the podium,” said Wainwright. The state tournament will be held Saturday, March 14th and Sunday, March 15th in Springfield, IL.
