Radium Girls Performed by Riverdale Theater Department
By: Izzy Tegeler
This year, Riverdale High School’s spring play was performed March 22-24th. Morgan Sexton directed the play, Radium Girls, for the students involved in the play. The play, Radium Girls is inspired by Grace Fryer, who was a dial painter, whose efforts to fight for her day in court were blocked by her idealistic former employer who cannot bring himself to believe the same element which shrinks tumors can possibly be causing the suffering of his employees. Siblings, Maggie and Michael Kelly, played the lead roles as Grace Fryer and Arthur Reorder in the play. The play was performed at the Riverdale Middle School auditorium, and they put on another successful show. The show was deep, thought provoking, and serious. However, the drama troupe pulled it off and kept it lively. Many students were involved in the production; including the lights and sound crew, stage crew, costume and props, makeup and hair, and the cast. Seniors involved in this show were: Alaina Heim, Cassidy Kline, Maggie Kelly, Oliver Bull, and Teagan McGinty. For them, it was their last performance while here at Riverdale. The community and theater department wish them the best.
