Nearing the Finish Line

On Saturday, October 23rd, 2021 the Riverdale Cross Country Team kicked off their post season at the regional meet in Rock Falls, Illinois. The top three spots at regionals were all taken by Riverdale runners. Peyton Sand came in third place with a time of sixteen minutes and seventeen seconds, Landis Musser took second place with a time of fifteen minutes and forty seconds, and Tommy Murray took first place with a time of fifteen minutes and thirty seconds. All of the boys advanced to sectionals, along with Mattea Weust, who ran and placed twenty-eighth. The team made Riverdale history that day; bringing home a regional championship for the first time ever. One week later, on Saturday, October 30rd, the team competed at the sectional meet in Oregon, Illinois. At this meet, the team ran a 5-k course as opposed to their usual, three mile courses. Peyton Sand placed twelfth, Landis Musser placed fifth, and Tommy Murray placed second. The team overall came in second place, just seventeen points behind the first place winners, Rockford Christian. Both teams will be advancing to state. The state meet will be held on Saturday, November 6th at Detweiller Park in Peoria, Illinois. We are looking forward to seeing how the boys end their season!
