Making an Impact

Monday, November 4th through November 8th, was World Interact Week, and Riverdale High School always finds a way to give back to the community. This year, it wasn’t for their community but for communities in need after the recent hurricanes. Hurricanes Helene and Milton took a big toll on the lives of the affected areas. Therefore, throughout the week, Riverdale High School Interact collected items for cleaning and personal hygiene kits. Riverdale’s Interact didn’t stop there, cash donations were collected for the World Interact Week Kids Against Hunger through a quarter drive. The quarter drive was a competition where students would drop quarters in a jar for the staff member they wanted to win. The teacher would win a morning coffee or energy drink, lunch delivery, interact apparel, and a basket of goodies. Junior English teacher, Mr. Claus, won this competition. Mr. Claus says, “Interact is a fantastic organization that continues to make a positive impact in the community. I strive to do this on a daily basis as well!” Throughout the week, Interact sponsored different dress-up days. Monday was “Don’t sleep on service,” wear pajamas. Wednesday was “Brighten someone’s day,” wear neon. Thursday was “Save the planet,” wear green or nature-themed clothes. Finally, Friday was “Interact day,” wear Interact apparel or blue and yellow. It was a successful week of fundraising for the victims of the recent hurricanes.
