JV Football Team Brings Senior Night Win

The rain held off this past Monday, October 24th, 2022, when the Sherrard Tigers faced the Riverdale Rams in a junior varsity football game. Before the game, seniors involved in Cheerleading and Marching Band were recognized for their hard work and dedication for the year(s) they have participated in the activity. The senior Cheerleaders are Meadow Millard, Mia Housenga, McKayla Houzenga, and Brooke Porter. The senior Marching Band Members are Campbell Brock (Tenor Saxophone), Rylee Clark (Trumpet), Makenna Dittman (Clarinet), Patrick Gannon (Trombone), Payton Gelande (Percussion), Nick Gray (Trombone), Emmett Mueller (Tuba), Mackenzi Robins (Flute), Christian Romani (Trumpet), Courtney Shadrick (Flute), Izabella Slone (Alto Saxophone), Logan Smiddy (Alto Saxophone), Finnley Thompson (Percussion), Veronica Urek (Flute), Parker Wendl (Trumpet), and Brendan Zimmerer (Percussion).

During the first two quarters, three touchdowns were scored by the Rams. The players that scored for the Riverdale Rams were Nick Goodson, Landen Peterson, and Gaege Heinsen. By the beginning of halftime, the score was Riverdale 21 and Sherrard 14.

Halftime brought performances from both the band and cheer team. The Band performed their Led Zeppelin halftime show, which included the songs” Whole Lotta Love,” “Immigrant Song,” and “Stairway To Heaven.” Seniors, Parker Wendl, Campbell Brock, and Nick Gray were featured in the song Stairway To Heaven. The Cheerleaders followed the band with a performance featuring the Seniors, which was choreographed by Mia, Brooke, McKayla, and Meadow.

In the last two quarters, there were three more touchdowns scored by Riverdale. Scoring for the Rams were Caen Beckett, Lance Winger, and once again Nick Goodson. The senior night game came to an end with a win for Riverdale with ascore of 42-26. Overall, Riverdale racked up a total of 413 total yards of rushing on 51 carries for the game, and Aiden Sensabaugh was successful in scoring six out of six extra points.
