Interact Spirit Week
By: Aubrie Polenske
October 30th through November 3rd, 2023, the Rotary Interact Organization hosted a spirit week to raise money for the Mathis family regarding the life-threatening injury sophomore, Liam Mathis, faced in early October. Throughout the spirit week, students dressed up with different theme days. Monday was an office worker vs construction worker to reflect on how service is important to our community. Tuesday, students wore their best costume for Halloween. Contests were also held for the best costume duo and the best costumes in each grade. Freshman, Ruby McClaine, sophomore, Trey Stoddard, junior, Kyler Gallens, and senior, Addison Secker, won the best individual costume contest. The duo contest winners were Catlinn Mumma and Caroline Kreiter dressed as KFC chicken and Colonel Sanders. Group contest winners were Jorie Slone, Cerdric Urick, Adam Benoit, and Brody Barret dressed as Mario characters. Wednesday was twin day to let the students know that by partnering together in service, they can accomplish more. Thursday was wacky hair/socks day because acts of service make the students stand out to their community. Friday was to support Riverdale by wearing Riverdale merchandise or to support NHS, Interact, or Student Council by wearing their merchandise. Spirit Week helped the students remember and support the important roles of Interact students.
