Ending the Year on a High Note

On Tuesday, April 19th, the Riverdale High School band and choir had their spring concert. The director, Matt Reece, was very pleased with the performance and said that everyone did a good job! He looks forward to the upcoming graduation ceremony and memorial day. Seniors in the band include Kyan Stuart- flute, Michael Benoit- percussion, Carson Page- percussion, Redlen Strayhall- horn, Riley Tady- trumpet, and Gus Thompson- saxophone. The songs the band played include “Bryce Canyon Overture,” “Air for Band,” and “Under the Rice Moon.” The band also performed these songs a few weeks ago at an IHSA Band Competition where they scored all twos (the highest score is one). Seniors in the choir include Redlen Strayhall- alto, Kyan Stuart- bass, and Nellie Stuart- soprano. The songs sung by the choir included, “Wade in the Water,” “A Red Red Rose,” “Weather the Storm,” “Song for Peace,” and “Toccata of Praise.” Senior, Kyan Stuart said, “It was an amazing concert. The band performed three songs and the choir performed five. Mr. Reece announced and recognized the seniors for their commitment to the fine arts at Riverdale.”
