Mr. Temple's Welcome Back Letter
Welcome back!
It’s good to have everyone back in the building! As usual, summer has come and gone quickly. I hope that everyone took some time to relax and enjoy time with family.
I’d like to welcome our new families as well as our new staff members, Mrs. Elizabeth Moody (5th grade), Mrs. Mindy Burke (Kg), Ms. Trish Mayo (Speech/Language Path), Mrs. Julie Romani (Para) and Mrs. Sheri McCadden (Pre-K Para). We are excited to have them on staff and we are looking forward to getting to know all of our new students!
You’ll be greeted by a new entrance and office area when you come to visit the elementary school this year. Construction has been completed on our new main office, nurse’s office, principal’s office, conference room and teachers lounge. We’ve also remodeled two classes at the elementary! Please be sure to stop by and check out the fresh look as you enter the building. It’s added a layer of security and provides a new first impression on an already amazing school!
We’re looking forward to starting the year with our annual Ag Day event to be hosted on August 30st! Let’s keep our fingers crossed for good weather. September will bring the Walk-A-Thon to continue raising funds for upgrades and additions to playground. Funding in the past has helped to repair and replace equipment as well as refresh the play-fall area around the equipment.
Here are a few reminders as we begin the school year:
Students should arrive at school prior to 8:00 a.m. Students arriving prior to 8:00 should be dropped off in the new parking lot near the north east corner of the building. Students should then make their way to the walking trail and the back corner of the gym. Students should arrive no earlier than 7:30. You may begin dropping students off at the front doors once the busses have pulled out of the circle drive.
If students arrive after 8:00 they must be signed in at the office. If changes need to be made regarding transportation for students please send a note with your student, call the elementary office and contact the transportation department at 309-523-3185. Calls need to be made by 2:00 to ensure that communications and changes can be relayed on time. Sending emails to teachers regarding changes or making changes in School Insight will not suffice. Students who come to school without a note indicating a change in transportation or without a call to the elementary and transportation prior to dismissal will be put on the bus. Please keep in mind that we transport nearly 600 students at the elementary alone and coordinate with more than a dozen buses.
As always we welcome parents and community members to visit us any time! Please come share in what we are learning and all that we have accomplished. I look forward to hearing from all the members of our learning community. Please contact us with any concerns or questions.
Have a great 2019-2020 school year!
Mr. Temple
