Scholastic Bowl Advancing to Masonic State

The Riverdale Varsity Scholastic Bowl team advanced onto Masonic State for the second year in a row. Jim Campbell who has been coaching for 29 years said, “We remember our last loss at the [IHSA] sectionals last year where we lost by one syllable, and we have worked hard since that loss.” The team knew what they needed to do and were able to grow and learn from their experiences last year. Scoring for the Rams were Tommy Murray with 20 points, Emmett Muller with 15, Gavin Jenkins with 12, Cael Hinde with 11, Carrie Pridemore with 4, James Remos with 3, and Logan Ogden and Makenna Ditman with 2. The seniors on the Scholastic Bowl team are Tommy Murray, Gavin Jenkins, Emmet Muller, Makenna Ditmin, Brenden Zimmer, Veronica Urek, and James Ramos. There were seven rounds of competition and Riverdale played each team once going undefeated. The team looks forward to competing at the Masonic State meet on Saturday, March 4th. The Varsity team will also be competing in the IHSA state series with regionals on Monday, March 6th, hosted at Riverdale.
