Announcements 4/10/19

Congratulations to our 8th grade Boys and Girls for getting first in last nights track meet at Erie.  Individual Champs – 7th Grade: Luke Wiklund-100m dash and Amanda Morris-Shot Put. 8th Grade: Kayleigh Hartson-Long Jump, Triple Jump, Haylee McKoon-Shot Put, Laken Larson-100m Hurdles, Avery Mays-800m Run, Maggie VanderWerff-400m Run. A clean sweep of the 800 and 1600 in the 8th grade Boys with Tommy Murray finishing 1st and Kade Rodgers 2nd in both races. The 8th grade boys Wil Leighty, Caleb Kovacic and Christian Romani swept the top spots in the 200m dash. Relay Champs – 4×100 8th Grade Girls, 4×400 8th Grade Girls, 4×400 8th Grade Boys. Awesome job last night for all athletes!!

This week all students will be taking the IAR – Illinois Assessment for readiness test (formerly PARCC) on April 9th – 12th. Parts of the assessment will require the use of  headphones. Students are encouraged to bring earbuds or headphones from home.

Talent show has been rescheduled for May 3rd. Practice will begin on April 23rd. Please listen to morning announcements for reminders and information.

Spring Pictures will be on Wednesday, April 17th. Online ordering is easy! Parents can order online at using your school’s order code. The order code for Riverdale Middle School is 37864DF.

The 2019 High School Fall Cheer tryouts will be April 8-11th, there is information in the office.

8th Grade promotion ceremony has been reinstated and scheduled for Tuesday, May 28, 2019, at 1:15 pm in the Middle School Gymnasium.

The focus on this 6 week training session will include movements to increase body spacial awareness, joint and muscle strengthening and injury prevention. It is designed to prepare athletes for the demands and physicality of playing sports at an elevated level for the high school experience.
